Coast habitat mapping storymap
Using flying drones and machine learning to map main coastal habitat types.
The Norwegian coastline is more than 100,000 km long.
Here is where people live and enjoy the marine environment, and where industry and society interact.
We urgently need better infrastructure to map and monitor where land meets the sea, so we can better understand environmental changes, assess climate impacts and manage the consequences of human activities. This is especially important for Norway’s commitment to the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Naturavtalen).
